Essays for brown university admissions

Early Decision Applicants
Early Decision applicants can check their decision beginning December 14, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time at http://admissiondecision.brown

The Resumed Undergraduate Education (RUE) Program Application is Now Available
The RUE Program is for applicants who completed high school at least six years prior to their intended enrollment at Brown and who have interrupted or delayed their pursuit of a college degree. The application deadline is March 1, 2017 for entrance in September 2017. Please see more information and a link to the application here.

Test Requirements
First-year applicants can satisfy our testing requirement in one of two ways: (1) Either the SAT and any two SAT Subject Tests, or (2) the ACT. Applicants who take the redesigned SAT are not required to take the optional writing section. For applicants who take the ACT, we strongly encourage, but do not require, the writing component. Brown will accept test results for either the old or the new SAT. Testing should be completed by October for early decision applicants and by December for regular decision applicants. Transfer testing requirements can be found here .

Submitting Test Scores
We will accept scores as official scores if they are included on the high school transcript or if a certified score report is provided by the guidance counselor. The guidance counselor should provide a cover letter to ensure that the scores are added to the applicant's file. This information should be sent by fax to 401-863-9300 or by email to admission@brown.

Supplementary Letters of Recommendation
Supplementary letters of recommendation cannot be submitted via the Common App. Please have your recommender send their letter directly to the Office of College Admission, Box 1876, Brown University, Providence, RI 02912, or letters may be emailed to admission@brown.edu. or faxed to 401-863-9300. Be sure to ask your recommender to include your full name and high school in their letter, so that we can match the letter to your application. Further information can be found in our FAQs .
