Depending on your academic record and financial situation, you may be eligible for one or more of the following:
Merit Scholarships - Bethany Scholarships ranging from $4,000 to $16,000 per year are available to applicants who enroll at Bethany as Freshman. Transfer students can qualify for $5,000 to $10,000 per year. These awards are based upon each student's level of academic achievement and are offered through the Center for Enrollment. This is a renewable scholarship for all four years of full-time enrollment. Please visit our Scholarship Calculator to see if you are eligible for a Bethany Scholarship.
Community College Scholarship - Students transferring from select community colleges can qualify for $8,000. Transfer students can only receive one merit scholarship, and it will not exceed the $10,000 highest merit award.
Kalon Scholarship - Competitive program for students demonstrating leadership and participation in school, church and community activities. On campus interview required. Must be accepted prior to mid-January to be considered. Awards are $3,500.
Kirkpatrick Alumni Award - Awarded to the son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter of Bethany Alumni. Awards are $1,500.
Sibling Scholarship - $1,000 per year. Both siblings must be enrollled full-time.
Phi Theta Kappa - $1,500 per year offered to students transferring to Bethany from a community college. Must have a 3.0 GPA and provide proof of membership to Phi Theta Kappa.
Marching Band/ Choir - $1,000 scholarship awarded to students who participate in the College's Marching Band or Choir.
Alexander Campbell Religious Leadership Awards - A $5,000 scholarship, this award is competitive and conditional. To apply, students must submit an essay affirming their commitment to religious leadership and describing their experience as religious leaders. They must also ask two people who know them well in their capacity as a church leader to submit letters of recommendation. Students who accept the award agree to complete a course each in the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, to participate faithfully in the Religious Leadership Mentor program, and to complete a Religious Leadership internship.
Students awarded the Alexander Campbell Religious Leadership Award will NOT be eligible for other church based awards.
Campbell-Stone Heritage Scholarship - Bethany College offers a scholarship in the amount of $1,500 to all students who are members of churches affiliated with the Campbell-Stone Movement, including the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the United Church of Christ, the Church of Christ, and independent Christian Churches. A letter documenting church membership must be submitted by the church pastor.
Son/Daughter of Minister - Bethany College also provides a $1500 scholarship to students whose parent(s) are ministers in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or the United Church of Christ.
A student who is eligible may receive both the Campbell-Stone Heritage and Son/Daughter of Minister awards.
Federal and State Grants - Students with financial need as determined by results of FAFSA application. Check applicable state grant deadline on the front page of the FAFSA form.
Federal Loan Programs - Bethany participates in the Federal Perkins Loan and Federal Stafford Loan programs. These low-interest loans are awarded to students based on financial need and repaid after leaving college. The Office of Student Financial Services will provide you with more details. We also offer loans to Parents through the Federal Stafford Lending Program.
Work Study - Work study is money offered to students as part of their aid package that they can earn to assist with their educational expenses. Awards range from $200 to $2,000.
*Merit awards are offered without regard for financial need. Students eligible to receive multiple scholarships/grants will receive at least the value of the highest award. It is our general college policy not to "stack" merit awards. Consideration for any additional Bethany College scholarships/grants will be based on financial need and requires the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
